How to Make an Omelette: Step-by-Step Instructions

Although omelettes can look simple, many people have failed to do it correctly many times. There are many reasons your omelette won’t turn out as you expect. Most often, the main reason is due to mistakes in cooking. It’s not worth looking at pictures of gourmet cooking if you make the same mistakes that they made. Here are some tips and tricks to make an omelette.

Before you start cooking, you must first get an omelette pan. You can use a nonstick pan, oils and fats will not stick to the pan. A nonstick frying pan is a good alternative to an omelette pan. Many cooks love to pull out their electric griddles and use these for easy preparation.   Also make sure that you have a good spatula, you will need to flip your egg creation and a bad spatula can mean a bad result.

Next, crack the eggs into a bowl and whip well.  There is an argument about adding milk or cream to your eggs, many feel you should just as a bit of water.  Adding some butter is always a good idea.

How To Make An Omelette

Before you put the eggs in the pan, you will need to combine them with the other liquids. The time it takes to cook an egg will depend on what recipe you use. However, the egg should only be cooked for a few minutes. You can cook your omelets quickly if you’re in a rush. Make sure to beat the egg whites properly in order to ensure perfect omelets.  Add your filling after the egg has begun to set.  A good tip is to cook the meats or vegetables before adding them to your egg creation.  This also can be done on your electric griddle, the large surface makes it easy to do this.

Don’t Overcook!

Mix all ingredients, place them in a pan, and then cook them until they are set. Then flip them so that the middle is still hot.  When the eggs have cooked (only a minute or two, don’t overcook!) you can slide the omelette unto a plate.  Don’t add salt or pepper until you are ready to eat, they can make the eggs rubbery.

You can add almost anything to an omelette, they are very versatile.  Sausage, ham and bacon are common breakfast meats that can be used, but you can also used shredded pork or chicken.  Cheeses of almost any kind will work and vegetables that are crisp are natural additions.
